Stylists are moving away from stick-straight strands and towards a fuller version of the same style. Hair tends to be more desirable when it’s plump, as seen in REESE WITHERSPOON’s new do at the recent SAG awards. A little bit of volume is sexier and much more touchable. The great thing about this look is that it’s achievable for most hair types. First off, applying the correct product does half of the work for you. For fine hair, lightly spritz a volumizing spray from roots to ends. For curly hair, run a nickel-sized drop of flexible-hold gel throughout the hair; and on thick hair, apply a heat-protecting spray from root to ends. Once hair is dry “you’ll have less to manage and the fuller it will be—proving that minimum effort can yield maximum result,” advises Allure magazine.

Prep hair by towel-drying, then applying your styling product (see above). Flip head upside down and gently tousle while running a blow-dryer through it until it is only slightly damp. Flip hair back up and secure top section at the crown with a clip.

Using a round brush, blow-dry the sides and back of hair. Pull a three-inch wide section out to the side, wrap the ends under, and roll the brush halfway up. Once dry, hold for a moment without heat on it, then gently unravel.

Unclip the top layers. Position the brush under the hair and pull each section straight up. Roll hair back toward the scalp, and gently unwind. To finish, smooth a light weight serum over hair. If hair is fine, mist with hair spray.
