When you’re out at the club, it’s best to wear tousled care-free waves that will only benefit from getting shaken about.

How You Get It:

Droppin’ it like it’s hot get’s you hot … and sweaty, causing hair to get greasy real quick. Before your night out, prep strands by using a purifying or clarifying shampoo. It will thoroughly cleanse hair, not only making your locks glossy but also leaving them clean and looking fuller longer. A good one to try is Pureology Purify Shampoo.

It’s best to play up the natural tendencies of your hair if you’re planning to tear it up on the dance floor. For straight-stranded sisters, like LINDSAY LOHAN, just add some volume by applying a light conditioning mousse, such as Kenra Volume Mousse. Follow-up by blowdrying hair upside down. Finally, add a spritz of anti-humidity spray, like KMS Flatout Anti-humidity Seal, to prevent sweat-induced frizz.

If you’ve got wavy hair like KATE HUDSON, play up those dangerous curves by first applying a setting lotion, such as Matrix Biolage Thermal-active Setting Spray. Blowdry, then curl random strands with a ceramic curling iron. Finish with a mist of anti-humidity spray.

If your hair looks “too styled” after using the curling iron, sprtiz a hand towel with perfume. Rub it over your hair, shaking the strand with your fingers. This will settle your curls for a more lived-in look.

To get SCARLETT JOHANSSON’s sexy up-do, prep hair first by applying mousse then blow-drying it. If your hair is stick-straight, then place rollers at the ends to give hold and a gentle wave. Next, create a side-parting and section hair from crown to ear on both sides. Twist the back sections into a low chignon, securing with a band. For the side sections, twist them back, leaving out a section at the front. Secure this section separately at the back of the head, “following its wave pattern to ensure some quaff-like volume,” says celebrity stylist Nicky Clarke.

ANNE HATHAWAY’s look has mega-volume. You too can achieve this by using a full-lift mousse. Brush hair to one side and place bobby pins down the middle at the back of the head. Next, fold the hair back onto itself, curling it in and securing with more bobby pins. Clake advises, “the higher you place the chignon, the more formal you look.”

To prevent a messy, piecey look and ensure smooth and elegant locks, finish style with a gloss-giving hairspray to control frizz.

Can't decide if you should make the cut? It looks good on stars like HALLE BERRY and ASHLEY JUDD but is it right for YOU?

GO SHORT IF YOU ...

Have small features. "Anyone with a petite mouth and nose looks great with short hair," says Sally Hershberger, stylist responsible for MEG RYAN's fammous pixie. A short hair style calls attention to ears, nose, and mouth - so if you're secure enough to showcase these features, go for it! "Flaunting a quirk is very modern," says Oribe, Jennifer Lopez's mane man.

Don't mind maintenance. You must be willing to "do" your do every morning. Short hair is not a wash-and-wear style and requires extra work on a daily basis. Also keep in mind that you will probably need to visit your stylist every four weeks for maintainence trims.

Want to project confidence. Laurent D., the man responsible for shearing Sharon Stone says, "After a big haircut, most women get an entirely new attitude. It's empowering to get rid of all that hair. It's like finally putting away the security blanket."

Want a "look." Short hair is like plaid pants. They'll get you noticed and keep you remembered.

Like to play. If you like to change your color and texture, then short hair is for you. Because trims are required for maintainence, damaged parts simply get snipped off.
